Why This Hike?

If you only have a day and are ready for a strenuous uphill climb that offers Yosemite's most classic  features of massive granite cliffs,  glacial impressions, and views of the valleys four grandest waterfalls. This is the hike for you!

Availability: May-October

We meet in Half Dome Village in front of the General Store at 8 AM. This is the only store available for food and supplies in this area. After meeting and introductions we will embark on a one mile trip to the Happy Isle trailhead. From there it will be a strenuous 5.8 mile lollipop with an elevation change of 2,000 feet. Ascending up the famous mist trail you will skirt along the Merced River and onto a series of steep stone steps in front of 317 foot Vernal Fall. After reaching the top of Vernal Fall you will continue on for another 1.4 miles to the beautiful 594 foot Nevada Fall. We will be descending down the famous John Muir trail which will take us back to Happy Isles.
